What a day Saturday 2nd May was, our 2nd XV travelled the short distance to this years hosts Aldwinians RUFC to take on a very competitive Didsbury Old Bedians RUFC side. We came away 24-12 victors rounding off the season in style.
The game was ebbing and flowing in a fiercely contested match as two strong sides went toe to toe. Full credit to everyone who pulled on the shirt putting in a huge 80 minutes to come out on top. Old Bedians led in the first half regularly finding space out wide, but our defence stood firm and we hit back before the break with Mike scoring a defining try to bring us level at 7-7. The second half told a different story, we saw much more of the ball and our big carriers consistently made up yards on the pitch. A penalty from Callan gave us the lead but Old Bedians responded quickly with a try to regain the lead. The final 20 minutes showed our deep grit as we took control of the game and sealed the win with two converted try’s from John Horrocks and Charlie Smith.
A truly fantastic result and a well deserved silverware for the lads, capping off an incredible run that’s seen the 2’s unbeaten since mid-September.
