Plate Cup Final Winners!

On Saturday 3rd May 2025 the 2nd XV took to the pitch to take part in the Primo Drinks Cup Finals day at Macclesfield Rugby Union FC.

Marking a perfect end to the season for the 2nd team they claimed a dominant 32-0 victory securing a season double after claiming the league win a few weeks ago. Delivering a near flawless performance, the team laid the foundation with a relentless and uncompromising defence. They notched up five unanswered tries with the scoreboard first ticking over with a drop goal to settle the nerves.

Our opponents never really looked like scoring, a true testament to the mentality and focus that our squad brought to the game. With so many stand out performances across the pitch, it was hard to single anyone out. But, the squad chose their Players Player of the match and that honour went to Mark Healy for a phenomenal all-round display and his poaching prowess in the lineout.

When the final whistle blew the celebrations kicked off in true Dukinfield style and carried on long into the night. Gaz our Director of Rugby reflected on this achievement by saying ‘I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s helped bring the second team back from the brink, not only surviving but thriving. From the first game at Littleborough to Saturday’s final, the atmosphere has been electric. We’ve used around 70 players this season and we have needed every single one of them’.

We hope that everyone has enjoyed this season and we cant wait to get back on the pitch for pre-season in July and the challenge of a new division in September. A heartfelt thanks to our sponsors. Your continued support is what keeps a club like ours going strong!

Thanks also go to Macclesfield Rugby Union FC for hosting a fabulous event for all the teams involved. We would also like to extend our thanks to The Wheatsheaf in Dukinfield for hosting our celebrations after the game.
